For what it's worth, my medical dictionary says the following:

EDIT: In retrospect, after some googling, there does not seem to be a specific Thai term apart from the wholesale borrowing of โรคโมโนนิวคลีโอสิส, which might be why Lexitron just settles for explaining it as an infectious disease.

According to thai2english.com the word เฉียบพลัน chìap plan means 'suddenly; forcefully; unexpectedly; abruptly' but also 'very forceful; very severe'. Ergo I am not sure if the translation should be 'Severe infectious disease' or 'Sudden onset infectious disease'.
