You need to have the local driving licence, valid for 5 years. At the same building at the land and transport departement (road from airport plaza to hang dong), where you get the driving licence (second floor) you also get the international driving licence. However, if you have no thai driving licence you can't get one.

Thanks for the responce I should have stated that I am a foreigner with a current Us drivers licence needing a international Drivers licence.

Has not been a problem untill now when I want to rent a car.

For US drivers license holders go to the AAA website and apply for an International Drivers Permit, cost about $15.

Pardon my stupidity but I can not find any info at the site you described. I went to a us gov site and tried a link they have it sent me to the same site but I see nothing about this subject.

I feel I am missing something I hope it is not my well you know. Help
