Hi,

I have a bit of a concern, please please no half wit answers to this one as it really is a genuine medical matter I need an answer to ....

I went for a routine blood and pee test and the results have come back saying I have a very high protein level in my pee. The reason I post here is I cannot get to see my g p until wednesday next week.

Has anyone heard of this before, I have done a quick search only to be met with kidney disease :o

I am 36 male and scared....

Thanks

Try to relax.

Worrying is not going to change anything.

Keep busy to keep your mind off the situation

until you see the doc and find out exactly what it all

means and what alternatives you have.

And get a 2nd opinion if the prognosis is severe

or not to your liking.

Or you might have just been drinking a bit much lately. Don't do self-diagnosis man it will freak you out every time. Don't sweat it just go see your doctor as soon as you can (there's plenty of late night service available, can't you get in somewhere or are you stuck in the boonies right now ?)

Thanks for the replies and support guys.

I have had the diabeties tests and thats all clear, I know i should`nt worry about this, but it is harder said than done. I have been for another pee test and the test shows again a very high level of protein, the quack has explained that this level of protein in the blood along with the other symptoms,i.e painful joints, totally knackered and shortness of breath is usally linked to kidney damage.

He has arranged for a kidney biopsey to be done to find out the extent of damage,if any!

Once again thankyou for your responce to my post, its good to know I am not alone in this big lonely planet!!

Not taking the piss just asking were you on the Atkins diet by any chance.

Did you piss for a few secs before you pissed into the sample jar?

You are supposed to do this clear any residual "love piss" from your tubes before giving a sample.

your blood tests probably would have shown something up if you had anything seriously wrong with you

Have you been experiencing any unusual pains in your abdomen? that seem like sharp stomach ache pain but don't go away even after voiding your bowels?

If you have a kidney stone or two trying to move through the system, they can tear kidney tissue on the way resulting in protein or plasma levels being too high in the urine. In that case you may need ultrasound or "dissolving" medicines (or in the worst case, an operation to remove the stone). It's not fun, but not too life-threatening. I wouldn't worry too much until you find out what the doc says.
