I'm New Here, Dutch, And In Need Of Help Translating A Thai Phrase...

Hello all,

My name is Walter, I'm from the Netherlands, and I'm new to this forum...

To start off, I have a question: could anyone help me in translating the phrase

ในที่สุดหงส์ก็ชนะ อิอิอิ

The last would be "he he he" and believe the rest is related to Liverpool FC, but I'm not sure...

Many thanks in advance! :o

According to here, the Thais nickname Liverpool as the Swans or Red Swans (from their mascot).

So ในที่สุดหงส์ก็ชนะ อิอิอิ could be translated as 'Finally Liverpool won hehe' or something like that.

But not sure. Maybe someone else can confirm?

Maybe something like, "Well, in the end we won ha ha".

I'm trying to go for a natural translation there; no real fan would say Liverpool or the swans.

Maybe it's not from a real fan, and instead refers to "they" or "(your team)"?

In any event, is the implication that Thais can't be real fans of Liverpool football? Might get in some serious arguments around these parts... :o

Cheers.

Point of order!

It's not a bleedin' swan.

Scouse.

My point exactly.

No seriously, I just meant that if I was translating it to something a farang might say then it would be more natural to put we from a supporter's point of view or as you said mangkorn they from a non supporter's view.

Anyone know all of the Thai football team nicknames?
