Forgot to say that the boat will drop you at West Railay Beach and you just walk through from there to East Railay - there is not enough water to drive round to the East side :o

The boat will actually stop at Tonsai first, don't make the mistake by getting off there.

Krabi Airport-minivan or taxi to Ao Nang-ticket booth for your longtail ride to Railei. Don't buy a return ticket at the ticket booth, complete scam, the boat guys coming back end up charging you anyways.

Just pay cash on the way back.

Hello Huggy,

My experience is completely different. October 2007 I was in Ao Nang for a day, and at the ticket booth I bought a one way ticket to Railei. Later getting back to Ao Nang proved to be a problem, there was no ticket booth at Railei, and the boat guys refused to take me because I didn't have a return ticket. I was told to wait till there would not be enough return ticket holders to fill up the next boat leaving. Together with a likewise ticketless Singaporean guy I waited for over one hour till we were finally allowed on a boat. The Singaporean and me were already seriously contemplating to take a boat to Krabi, and to proceed to Ao Nang from there :o

Oh well, maybe the situation has changed in the meantime.

Hi keestha,

yes there is no ticket booth at Railei you deal directly with the boat boys.

When you and the Singaporean approached the boat, how much did you offer them? They usually will go for 200thb.

The return ticket from the booth is only good until 6:00pm, so if you want a sunset drink there, it's useless. With the ticket you wait for 6 persons.

Also, the boat boys wait and then tell you it's past 6:00. It's a joke...........you end up paying anyway is my only point, so don't get the double dip by paying at the booth unless you plan on returning before 5:00pm.

Title sums it up really.

Any help appeciated.

Its is true that the longtail boats dont go until they hav 8 people. That is the same from AoNang, from AoNamo or from Railay.

If you come from the airport, and is going to east Railay, you can take at taxi to AoNanag, and a longtai from there to west Railay. Or you can take a taxi to AoNamo, and take a longtail from there to east Railay. Because they want 8 people it can sometimes go faster from AoNang (more people), but then you have to walk over to the east side. But if you want to go late in the evening, the boats from AoNamo goes later than from AoNang.

Bus, taxi or tuk tuk to Ao Nang

Long tail boat to Railey

Just buy a single you can buy a return from the boatmen coming back

where are you staying?

If you are going for rock climbing Ton Sai is where you really wanna be. I recommend Countryside Resort set back a bit, large and airy rooms

have a great time x
