I was trying to put a location to this ad campaign poster...

Thinking where in Thailand are there beaches that look like this....

and then, it dawned on me.... that I had seen a very similar picture earlier...

So now we can conclude...

That the ad photo was a photo taken of Pattaya beach...

Don't know where you got that picture from, but that's not of the bus that crashed this morning.

Having driven on that road myself quite a number of time I too suspected the validity of the photo. However, it was the photo that accompanied the news bulletin from Itar-Tass.

I've encountered the same from some of their other articles....

This was one of theirs that accompanioned an article about Pattaya beach.... :o

There is a Pattaya bay on Koh Lipe which would match the photo in the article.

As for the photo in the republican the island in the distance is Koh Poda.

Dear David,

I hope your holiday program for the lucky winners does not coincide with ............... (Buddhist Days, Lower House elections, By-elections or By elections of by-electons, Senate elections, by-elections for the Senate, local government elections, social order champains, Prominant birthdays and/or Military coups). In the event of the listed likely days finding there way into the travellers schedule don't expect him to return to the UK with rave reviews of Chang Beer in Thailand!.
