Popular Post GarryP
No answers for you. I know it is difficult to find vets who agree to euthanasia in Thailand. Must be very difficult for you. Hope you get it sorted.
Popular Post Tropicalevo
It is strange that some vets will not help at this time in the life of your dog. Good luck at this sad time.

Thailand
Over the last 20 years 2 of our old friends have been helped on their way by vets in Chiang Mai. It required all 3 of the directors of the practice to sign off to release them from their pain. The practice has changed hands and I do not know if the current directors will still do the same thing. But it means that some vets will do so, perhaps call around to the vets in your area? Obviously I will not post or provide the name of the practice.
Tropicalevo
If your own vet will not do it, maybe ask them who will. But you may need to get the record from your current vet. Here on Samui, vets will only euthanise the dogs where there are records. Something to do with the strict rules on them obtaining the relevant drugs. I have had to say goodbye to two of my 'best mates, and friends have also had no problems, but a neighbour did have a problem with a street dog that adopted him. The vet had to say no as there was no medical history. 1
Bday Prang
A couple of guys I know had similar problems, like anything else in Thailand it was sorted for a few baht 500 seemed to be the going rate Just ask around a few different vets. I also heard of another guy who experienced some reluctance even after offering money but the vet changed its mind when he told them he would take matters into his own hands and kick the dog to death, guess he must have been pretty convincing 2
Popular Post NorthernRyland
My wife let her old dog die a slow painful death from kidney disease. They refuse to put them down and it's so cruel. Not letting them happen again with our current dog. Even if you have to travel I would do that because it's probably hard to find a vet who will do it.

bunnydrops
tough subject. I have had to do this myself in my lifetime. Remember people fall asleep and died in standed cars in snow storms. 🤨

Popular Post bunnydrops
I used to tell people, I divided my life, not into which woman I was living with at the time, but which dog I had. The dogs lived with me for 14+ years each, the women only half as long. Edited May 25 by bunnydrops edit 5 2 1

Popular Post nobodysfriend
I understand you very well ... It is hard to see a good friend suffering if there is no cure ... To humanly put it down to end it's suffering is asked too much ... I am in a similar situation , and when I see that there is no more help possible , and the vet's refuse , I will find and ask someone who has a gun . ( most have one ) . Very sad , but a bullet to the head is painless . When it is time for me to go , it would like to take the way Tom Petty did at 65 ... ( overdose of heroin )
paahlman
I guess it has to do with religion. Mostly buddhist vets will not do this.. Try to find a muslim or christian vet. Might be different.. However.. .It could be a general Thai thing. Not sure.
Popular Post kbb
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Since you are in Pattaya, at least you have more options. Suggest you call around. Our personal experience with this (Trying to leave out unimportant details) 5 years ago - We were driving between Pattaya and Kohn Kaen, and stopped in Nakon Ratchisima for dinner. We had 2 dogs, and 3 cats. About a 10 hour ride. One of our Chihuahuas (Who had health problems) started to choke on her dinner. Although were were from out of town we managed to find a vet still open. -- A larger facility. The Vet explained that we would have to leave to dog overnight. She was 50/50 as far as survival. When he explained they would not euthanize, even with treatment that might turn out poorly, we were rather stunned. As heartbreaking as it was, we had to drive the next 5 hours up north, as the other animals had been in the car for many hours. Wind up here was that she did improve, and we were to drive down and get her back. About two years later, the same dog started having severe skin problems (To go with lung, liver and heart disease). The Vets up here were in Chum Phae (Near Khon Kaen). Her condition worsened, until one morning she was too weak to stand. We put her in the car, and on the way to the vet, she was obviously weakening, and slipping away. We discussed options with the Vet, but they were poor. LIttle chance of success, and no way to know how much pain would be involved. Here's the point to your dilemma - This vet did not shy away from Euthanasia. I may describe them as Neutral. They certainly did not encourage treatment. I never got the feeling from them that they were trying to make any $$ here. So I suggest you pour through google and google maps. I beleive you'll find a vet who will help with this miserable task. Best of luck.

Popular Post Basso53
I have a 14-year-old dog who has a spinal problem that causes great pain at times. My vet in CM, who is the owner of the practice, told me without asking that she would euthanize him when I'm ready. In the meantime (now about every two weeks), he gets a shot of morphine plus an anti-inflammatory, plus a 3-day Fentanyl patch, and he's happy for about two weeks. He has been attending this practice for about 18 months. 5

Popular Post cncltd1973
I'm in the same situation and the vets refuse to help. I've been wondering about 'at home' solutions such as a small room with carbon monoxide or 'dry ice' in water, which melts as carbon dioxide. It's ridiculous that the professionals lack mercy here, especially with so many feral animals suffering in public. The prefer to prolong the death process, unfortunately 1 1 1
Popular Post ChrisKC
Sorry to hear about this, I know how emotionally painful it is. I don't live around Pattaya but I do know that there are vets in Thailand who will do the needful. I find it rather sad to think that religion gets in the way of real suffering.

Popular Post damian
Sorry to hear about this also. From my understanding the process is a simple injection. If so, I cannot understand why vets here cannot simply sell you the injection. Maybe becasue it is seen as aiding and abetting.

Popular Post actonion
A very understanding Vet that speaks a little English helped put out old Dog to sleep after he made sure there was nothing more to be done, is located in Soi Nern Pub Waan, coming from Sukhumvit Rd. cross the Railway, you have the Market on your Left side, between that Market & the 7/11 a bit further along, on the "Right hand "side is that small Vet's office sorry I don't know the name...

pomchop
Sad story but sometimes it is just time to die....and it will happen to every person and dog and cat and all the rest. If you can't get a vet to do it soon maybe you can find a simple humane way to do it yourself . I am sure that is not an easy thing to do....but in the end maybe it just shows you love your dog and want to do what is best for him/her. Good luck whatever you decide.
