george Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 110 districts in 6 provinces declared drought disaster zones BANGKOK: -- A total of 110 districts in northeastern provinces have been declared drought disaster zones, a senior official said Friday. Wallop Thepphakdee, director of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Region 5, said the six provinces are Saraburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Buri Ram, Surin, and Si Sa Ket. The drought is affecting some 1.695 million people in 9,030 villages in the provinces, he said. In Nakhon Ratchasima alone 2,542 villages in 32 districts were affected, he said. -- The Nation 2008-03-28
