Woman claims drink spiking on Jetstar

A woman claims her drink was spiked on a Jetstar flight to Thailand.

Former flight attendant Anamaree Correia, 34, told the Seven Network she was on a flight from Sydney to Phuket when her bottle of water was spiked.

She passed out and later woke to find her dress soaked in urine, she said.

Ms Correia said she was sitting near three Australian soldiers on the flight.

Jetstar says it has not received a formal complaint from Ms Correia but will investigate the incident if one is made.

Ms Correia said she was sitting next to a soldier on the flight, with two of his mates in the seats in front.

"They were in the Australian Army based in Sydney," she told Seven.

She had a meal and a small glass of wine at the start of the flight, before going to the bathroom.

"(I) went off to the bathroom and left my water bottle, as everyone does, you don't think anything of it," she said.

She returned to her seat, drank the water and started to feel ill.

"I started feeling this really bizarre hot sensation start from the top of my head," she said.

"I was just completely paralysed and then I passed out."

Ms Correia said when she woke up, more than an hour later, she was dazed and her dress was soaked in urine.

"I was mortified, I was just devastated," she said.

"It was just a big power trip for them.

"This doesn't just happen in nightclubs, it can happen anywhere."

Ms Correia said the Jetstar cabin manager did not encourage her to get the authorities involved.

But Jetstar said Ms Correia was asked during the flight if she wanted to take the matter further and she declined.

A spokesman said the cabin crew's report for the flight recorded a passenger falling ill and being taken to a curtained crew area.

She was offered medical assistance during the flight and when it arrived in Thailand, he said.

"We've received nothing in respect to a formal complaint from the passenger," he said.

"If a complaint is brought forward we will look into the matter expeditiously."

why would anybody would spike her drink during the flight?

the best would be to check urin sample from the dress/seat, water or her blood - which would strongly support her case. Probably now is too late to find those samples and there was no point from her side to do it now and not during/immediately after the flight

She might have been molested whilst she was 'drugged' by the suspected soldiers nearby. If she lost control of her bladder during her ordeal then that suggests strong (and dangerous) sedation.

Women reading this beware. Never leave drinks unattended. For that matter men beware. I was drugged in Manila; when I left a drink unattended at a bar. I was dead lucky, I was with a trusted friend and he got me back to my hotel just around the corner.

Because they could...Like she said, a power trip. A little misogyny goes a long way, specially with young yahoos on leave from the military.

The lady said she passed out , she would have no idea if anyone even touched her , to put blame on anyone just because they happened to be sitting close by , for a series of events that took place whilst she was 'Out to lunch' , seems a little rediculas . :o

Really shocking.

It could be that they wanted to test out the drug. Or was a bet. I think its unlikely that they would try molest her on a plane, instead wanting to do something they considered fun or see her reaction. The concern is if/when they next decide to do it. Will the person be safe? (From them or anyone else). I cant imagine how she must have felt. If I were her i would absolutely pursue this further (but would have been better if she had asked the airline staff to call the police and medical examiner on touch down). Sick people.

Sounds to me like she swamped herself and is embarrassed about it and looking for an excuse.

And so instead of walking from it, she goes international?

Hmm...

I can't see how the airlines could be at fault so who would she sue? The Australians? Then good luck on either a short and embarrassing lawsuit or a long and expensive one (also embarrassing) with not much return.

Well, considering the prevalence of women finding their drinks spiked and themselves raped I should be astonished by the insensitivity portrayed by men here. Sadly, I am not.

You don't have to signal a social conscience by looking like a frump. Lace knickers won't hasten the holocaust, you can ban the bomb in a feather boa just as well as without, and a mild interest in the length of hemlines doesn't necessarily disqualify you from reading Das Kapital and agreeing with every word. ~Elizabeth Bibesco

Too late, i remember reading this same story here in TV few months back. Looks like she's looking for attention again, propably after something from Jetstar ? :o

Any case she could and should file a complaint right after the flight and let JS to track down those alleged passengers in the flight.

A UK study tested 120 women who claimed to have had their drinks spiked or drugged. The results were, in 118 of the cases, there was no drug involved at all, other than alcohol.

Why on earth do people bump really old threads with no apparent good reason.....?? :o

Plenty of lads drinks are spiked too, however that being said I don't buy it on an airplane.

Hmm sounds like a sketchy story to me and mere speculation on her part. Perhaps she just was ill?

Sounds like the Brit to me who was rude to an immigration officer wanting to spend time in a Thai jail :o

Given that this thread is a year old and has only brought out the conspiracy theorists, insults and abuse towards someone who probably doesn't need it
