Housing Development Headaches

Recommended Posts

Yes really what a surprise.

Regret nothing will change until there is either legislation or a self regulating body to deal with rogue developers similar to the NHBRC in UK.

That's why I advise clients to buy a suitable size piece of land in there prefered location to fit there budget, have a decent local archtect draw up some plans to fit your requirementents & prefered house style, then instruct a local reputable Thai or Farang builder with a proven track record to build your house, this will save all the problems you may or may not encounter on a housing development, in this way you will also get the house built to your spec & design & not someone else's ideas.

If your not in Thailand while the property is being built, it would also make sense to hire a local reputable project manager to introduce you to good local builders, & who could also oversee the project on your behalf from start to finish, saving you any problems, & in the long run save you money.

But to be fair not all housing developments have problems, & in some cases some of the problems are down to the development residents not paying there yearly/monthly service fees.
