We are American with a baby on the way in about 3 months. We have non-immigrant 'B' visas. What I would really like to know is will the birth of this baby allow us as a family to stay in Thailand without visa runs, etc.? Will anything change with our ability to stay in Thailand longer and as possibly as long as we want? We are in no hurry to get back to America. Any and all advice, suggestions, comments will be extremely welcome. Thanks much.

Sorry to say, but having a child in Thailand makes no difference at all to your visa status in the Kingdom.

The child will be issued with a birth certificate by the hospital

but the child does not acquire Thai nationality.

You need to make sure the birth is also registered at your embassy

and then apply for a passport.
