Khao Lak Snake

Featured Replies

I've just returned from a holiday in Khao Lak. We came across this snake away from the main town, while we were taking the pics a little Thai boy about 6 year old ran over with a broom and hit it in the head. The poor thing wouldn't die as this boy kept hitting it so my husband had to put it out of its misery. Can anyone tell me what it is?

It is a red necked keelback. Have had a few of those in my garden. They are venemous but apparently not deadly. They are beautiful snakes.

What a strikingly beautiful snake... and from it's name, I presume it enjoys Budweiser beer and watching Tractor Pull shows.

I agree with the above. I have heard Thais call it ngu how kaw daeng, or red necked cobra. They are fairly common and can be very aggressive if messed with.

The human variety shares the same characteristic....
