Budget Hotels On Sukhumvit

Hi all,

my cousin arrives in Bangkok this afternoon and has asked me to find her some budget accomodation/serviced apartment on Sukhumvit road (around 1000-1500 Baht per night).

She stayed in Sawasdee guesthouse on soi 57 last time which was fine, although she is hoping to get somewhere with a pool on this occasion. If possible I would prefer that the place be near to a BTS station and not anywhere sketchy like Nana Hotel.

Does anyone know of anywhere that would be appropriate?

Cheers!

Stable Lodge on Sukhumvit Soi 8 fits all your requirements. Check it out http://www.stablelodge.com/index.html

Another popular budget hotel is The Honey hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 19, slightly cheaper than Stable lodge, but not quite as nice. http://www.bangkokhotels.info/honey.htm

Royal Asia Lodge on Soi 8 is a better choice, and they have their own free tuk tuk to take you between the hotel and Suk Road... It drops you off right at Nana BTS... It's very quiet and good staff, but no included breakfast for 1100 to 1200.... They have their own web site, but you usually can find a better price by looking thru the hotel booking sites for Thailand....

On the other side of the road on Soi 11, the Swiss Park hotel also is nice, but probably closer to 1500 including breakfast... Almost at the footsteps of Nana BTS....right outside the front door...

asha -- no clue about current construction, but a-one is a good, cheap, place to stay. Their website seems to be down at the moment. Besides that, obviously soi 11 is is excellent (grant president is good), but it's gonna run you a 50 spot per night.

I stayed there. Probably ok for her needs but it's a hike down a long dark soi at night. And I heard the pool was no good.

I usually recommend Majestic Suites, but no pool.

Majestic Suites is a nice small hotel, newer, good staff and very nice smallish modern rooms...

However, it's right around the corner from Nana Plaza... and the OP said he didn't want something in that kind of area...

Grand President is nice on Soi 11, but mayber at the high end of his price range...

Royal Asia has a virtually 24 hour free tuk tuk... so no need for worry about walking.... And.. Soi 8 is very safe...mostly quiet...and little traffic once you get away from Suk Road... But in the past, yes, their small, roof swimming pool seemingly is almostly constantly out of service...

The tuk tuk may be up the Suk end if you're lucky... I didn't mind that walk, despite a very near collision with a bat..

Very quiet hotel. In 4 days there, I only once saw another guest. And every night I'd walk in and find the guy on reception asleep.

Royal Asia has an electronic call button for their tuk tuk service...that is located on the very first side soi...once you walk in from Suk Road... just one block and then turn the corner... on the wall opposite from the Aviva Massage shop... When you return from outside, just go there and press the button a couple times... (There's a small sign on the wall that says Royal Asia Tuk Tuk Call Button). That rings a bell down at the hotel, and the tuk tuk guy will drive up to Suk Road to pick you up... Not the easiest thing to find the first time.... but once you find it, it's very easy to use...

Thanks for that. Wish I'd known about it. I did see a sign for the hotel down that soi. I probably won't stay there again, but I'll know if I do.

Federal Hotel on suk soi 11 is where I always stay - reasonable room service, 24hr, and cheap - rooms something like 1200 to 1500 per night - nice pool - small hotel - great location for the money in my view.... highlt recommended. Got decent english TV channels too..... like HBO etc.

just accross the road from Bed Supper club, and its about a 500m walk to the sky train.

In November I stayed in Honey House 2, 500 meters in Suk 22.

Small place - 890 baht - no pool though, but everything was new and imo good value :o .
