June 1, 200817 yr I need to open a savings account with Krung Thai Bank in Bangkok. I am not currently working in Thailand. Still, trying some branches in shopping malls, I was regularly asked for a work permit as a requirement to open a savings account. So, as a tourist, can one open a simple savings account at Krung Thai Bank? And if yes, which branch is 'tourist-friendly'?
June 2, 200817 yr Seeing as no one is trying to help you...I will have ago...Banks will open a bank acc for you on a tourist visa....think the problem you have had is that you have been trying open it at a satellite branch...go to a main office.... If Krung Thai will not help you, try SCB or K-bank, but again a main branch not a satellite...
June 3, 200817 yr Does it have to be Krung Thai? There has been considerable success with Bangkok Bank (who have the best ATM's in English and Best facilities). There is even a step by step guide to opening an account on a tourist visa. See this thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=190126
