Best Way To Get From Bangkok Airport To Phuket?

Featured Replies

yo finaly managed to bag myself a flight for under £500 leaving the start of july. When landing in bangkok what would be the best/fastest/cheapest way to get to phuket. Are there shuttles,coaches/busses direct from the airport or shall i get a cheap shuttle to koe san tourist area and get the trip down in one of the tourist agencies. Also how much should i expect to pay. On an extreme budget so cannot afford to shed out even on an air asia flight

i'll be arriving 4th july and and comeing back 3rd if that makes a difference.

thanks alot any help appreciated

I can't say I've heard of any coaches or buses leaving direct from the airport to Phuket, however, somebody else may be able to enlighten you further. I would say that your best bet, considering your budget would be, as you said, a bus from Khao San Road. I think they are about 600 or 700 bt to Phuket. Mind you, the latest hike in fuel prices may have led to an increase now.

Bkk to Phuket by bus, you are looking at a 12-14 hour ride at around 500-100 baht.

If you can afford a little extra, I would go and grab a train in Bkk (Hualamphong) and get off in Surat Thani. You can then grab a bus in Surat Thani and shoot across to Phuket. Takes a little longer but should be more comfortable/interesting. Train to Surat Thani takes about 8-9 hours and 6 hours by bus from Surat Thani to Phuket.

If you're already at the airport, why mess about with buses when you can get to Phuket for about £40 return by plane? If you were flying DMK (Don Meuang)-HKT (Phuket), you would have to get a cab/bus from BKK (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi).

An hour by plane or hours overland..

Why fart ass about, fly down, only costs a round 1000 baht.

Be in Patong or whereva ya booked inside a couple of hours.

Air Asia will take you from BKK, buy a ticket at their desk on departure level, easy peasy.

Lotsa dosh, try Bangkok Air, very good, or Thai..

If you prefer, 1-2 - Go, you will need to go to Don Muang, extra cost for transfer.

Any land option, great if you want to see the country.

Good luck.

Airasia have a deal on now - I paid a little over 900 baht for a flight to Phuket in Aug. This is going to be the cheapest option whatever you do.

Airasia has to be your best bet at just over 900baht each way. In this case you arrive at Suvarnabhumi from which you also depart to Phuket. You should book online in advance at https://www.airasia.com/site/th/en/home.jsp to ensure the discount fare.

A train or bus involves the additional cost and hassle of transfers and at the end of the day is gonna cost about the same anyway but will take many, many, more hours. The overland journey may be more interesting but not that much more interesting :o !

Air Asia is my airline of choice in S.E.A.

If you book in advance, be aware of time to deplane, immigration check in again etc.

Give yourself lots of time.

If you have a long wait, go to Air Asia desk on departure level and enquire if an earlier flight is available.

I do that often, usually it is possible to get an earlier flite, no shows.

Good idea too, if they leave it late, no checkin or weight worries, they give you a boarding pass about 20 mins before flite is due to leave.

Ya hafta hurry, take all your bags into the cabin.

Great, no wait at other end, just walk straight out.
