I never ever thought I'd say this, but after experiencing Samak as PM I'd welcome Thaksin back any day. As much as I despised the ground he walked on, at least he was intelligent and competent. Maybe Samak was a clever strategy to make Thaksin look good?

If you only had a choice of Samak or Thaksin, who would you rather see as PM?

Edited by Crushdepth

Mr. Samak is still better than Mr. Pom Kit Wa (Mr. I think).

I'd have Thaksin back any day, actually, I was gutted to see him go. I can't even mention his name in front of the Thai G/F!! I'm not big on these issues and I certainly wouldn't claim to know all the ins and outs of it, but from my point of view, Thailand seemed to gaining some kind of stability under him. He was a clever guy and I felt that he was (slowly) taking Thailand forward. (while taking care of himself of course). :o

I need another option. Samak or Thaksin does not make any difference.

That's like asking which would I rather eat, a pile of vomit or a pile of poop.

There was no choice option for a used dishrag (which was preferred to either), so it ended up as a null vote.

Samak makes a decaying piece of roadkill look like a dynamic leader so I guess he does make Thaksin look good.

I suppose if the criteria for a good leader is that he does something, the legality of which is irrelevant, Thaksin is the "special one".

Personally they both turn my guts and I wouldn't p1ss on either of them if they were on fire but, hey, Thailand is a "democracy" and the people have chosen their leader and have got what they deserve.

Mr. T and company would make the James and Dalton Gangs look like Chior boys, whereas Mr. S would make the stuttering village idiot look like PM material. The prize for the winner of poll and the runner up should be a life time holiday to Burma to trade ideas with the Junta.

The 'they annoy me both equally' option is there for you guys :-)

Nice idea, but I think they tried that already. And even the Junta didn't want to talk to Samak!

I'd rather see Thaksin's face on TV, Samak is one ugly mutha.

I liked Thaksin when he was in office because he helped Chiang Mai in so many ways.

They are all crooks, but he was OUR crook! :o

No way I'm getting my vote confused with "I love them both equally".

The extra option's needed, possibly along the lines of PhilHarries's quote "they both turn my guts and I wouldn't p1ss on either of them if they were on fire". Bravo.

While they both certainly have their faults, they both shine in comparison to the Sondhi/Sondthi dynamic duo of destruction that has mauled the Thai economy and spirit as of late.

the catman I am in your boat, politics is not my game and to say one is better than the other (?) we have enough problems with our own pollys let alone critique another counties. But the big "T" was making a bundle it would seem. Wouldn't mind some of that bundle does that make me bad as well if so :D

I say Samak was better on his cooking show...

I wasn't a big fan of Thaksin when he was in office, but there are certain things that I begrudgingly give him credit for. He was a decisive person, but he had leadership ability and that showed. As for Samak, he is a reincarnation of a Jewish leader--you know, when they wandered in the desert for 40 years!

I say Samak was better on his cooking show...

No, he suffers from culinary thrombosis..................he's got a clot in the kitchen.

But Thaksin was certainly better at culinary literature........................he cooked the books more thoroughly.

I think Thaksin is the best PM Thailand ever had. Think about it.

Absolutely in complete agreement.

I think Thaksin is the best PM Thailand ever had. Think about it.

To make a statement like that, one would have to have an in-depth knowledge of all the prime ministers who have ever served Thailand.

So telling people to "think about it" is pretty much a wasted exercise as the majority of people haven't studied (by study i don't mean checking out Wilkipedia) Thailand's political history - at least not to the level to be commenting with authority.

I think Thaksin is the best PM Thailand ever had. Think about it.

and that applies for G.W. in the U.S. of A. too! :o

I get the impression theyd be just aswell swapping Samak for the character from the adverts for AJ dvd,& music systems. They probably both know about two thirds of f!ck all about the running of a country or politics in general. :o

Give each of them 100 Baht and send them off to the fresh market.

Which one is more likely to return and cook you dinner?

As for helping the country......... :o .........forget it.

Oh yeah: aren't they both in charge already???

George W. Bush.

George W. Bush.

Some folks seem to have nothing else to think about. :o

That's what I'm afraid of :-)

The people who hate Thaksin do so because he is smarter than they are. He wasn't a blatant thief like many of those before him. He was able to legalize his thievery through changing the law.

It's a simple thing. Is Thailand better off now than when Thaksin was PM?

Marcos was the best president the Philippines ever had.

Pol Pot was the best leader Cambodia ever had.

etc.

etc.

6 of one half dozen of the other. If you try to polish a Turd you get a shiny turd! Thailand still needs to find a decent leading faction, I guess the U.S. & other countries got same problems. Talksin & GW got a lot in common. Both good thieves & don't care about the people they serve as long as their wallet gets fat! I think Thalksin is smarter than Bush though.
