I've discovered a few decent english language channels on UBC and I'm curious if there is a print or even better an online guide or schedule of programming?

Also is it possible to buy some kind of Tivo/DVR device to record shows?

If you are a subscriber you should receive a magazine every month with the listings. You can also look it up on truevisionstv.com

You can buy a DVR/HDD recorder, or UBC have just started offering a PVR device (similar to Sky Plus in the UK), but this is rather expensive and seems to be plagued with problems at the moment.

You don't need to record anything on UBC, as they have so many repeats you are sure to find the same programme again within a few days.

great, that truevisions website is exactly what i was searching for. thanks!

the channels i've found in english are hbo, cinemax, starmovies and hallmark (channels 12, 13, 14 and 15) along with the news channels cnn, bbc and cnbc (42, 43 and 44). are there any others that people watch? i know i've clicked through and seen a random english program here and there but the majority of time they are in thai. i don't see a system to the madness lol

thanks a lot for answering the really dumb questions

You might also try the French channel...77. Mondays at 8pm and often Tuesdays at the same time they show french films with english subtitles.Ive been impressesd with the subject matters of their films...quite different from the usual UK and US films.Fridays they have been showing a 'soap' '''Lawyers and Partners'' which has been very good, but I think the run may now have finished.

Discovery, National Geographic, History Channel are all in English, on my box they are 44, 45 and 47, but I think yours will be different as the news channels are 71 and 72 on mine.

True Excyte, True Series, True Explore 1,2 and 3 also have some English programmes. Not forgetting the Sports of course which are all 99% English.

Even for the limited amount of television that I watch, I have found the printed schedule in the monthly True magazine to be very unreliable. Much better to look up schedules on their website.

Agree 100% Toss the mag....

:D hi this might help you with getting english instead of thai: the little buttom on your remote to the right of the 6 buttom has an alternate language, namely english. selecting this will give you english with thai subtitles. :o:D:D

AXN and Hallmark for US and sometimes English telly series.

And you can check what's on for the day by pressing the TV Guide button of the remote.

My "guide" button only gives me the next hour or two not the day

What system do you have?

I have the Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and really enjoy it. I now can watch the shows I want to watch when I want to watch them. Yes, there are some problems, but at the end of the day True is constantly fixing the problems with software updates. I have talked to their people and they even have called me back to make sure my problems have been fixed.

I used to have the same one as you but something went wrong a couple of months ago and they came and changed the box to a new one with better features.

Most all of the UBC channels have English language capability except for channels 1-11 and of course programs that are in thai on a few channels.

There must be a way (using your remote) to change from thai to english language. It may be a bit tricky, but you can do it. If you have a legal UBC box, call them and ask, or even tell them something is wrong with your box and they will come out and look at it. But, believe me, there is a way to change the language...
