Looking For A House...

Featured Replies

Well, it looks like this guy will need to find a house by the end of the month. The girlfriend and I have recently split up (hence my absence from TV), and my current house's rent is too much to handle for a poor teacher like me.

I currently live in the Bangtao area and I would love to stay here. However, I'm willing to look as far as Kamala if the price is right.

So, has anyone come across a nice house for as little as B6,000 per month? Anything under this price would suit me just fine. Thanks for the help. You can post on here or PM me the details.

Cheers.

if you live in BangTao - look on the street that goes behind the small mosque near Bangtao Langoon Bungalos. There is a small house back off the street (they usually have a small sign up) that goes for about B5000. No A/C, no phone, but clean and nice. If you need or want cable TV, A/C etc - try Tita Bungalos on the road heading to Thalang - about two kilometers outside Cherng Talay. More like B7.5k.

There are also three small houses for rent on the small road (Soi Pattani 2 ?) that runs from Muslim cemetery into Cherng Talay.

Depends a bit also if you want a small house (what I have suggested) or apartment. Many more options exist if you don't mind an apt. Cherng Talay (my town!) has many new small apartments in buildings that have just three to six places. Personally, I prefer CT as there is no noisy mosque- fewer hostile glares - and it is just as close to BT Beach. A friend used to rent an apt. on the Ao Bang Tao road almost down to the beach road - for about B4500. Depending on where you live - be prepared for water outages.

I know Kamala a bit - as I've looked for a place there before - go on the other side of the main road (the non-beach side) and go back deep into Kamala - lots of places for rent - apts. and small houses. Don't move there if you have a pet that goes outside. Problems with pet poisonings.

Do as most of us have, drive the 'hood. That's how I found my place. But it's about triple what you want to pay.

Sorry to hear that igotworms, looks like the gf prefers the black mamba than you. :D

Thanks. I will take a tour this weekend.

Best advice you will get! That's how I found my place: off the main road, down a narrow soi, down a dirt track, and it opened up into a really nice dead-end area with 5 houses. :o

Well, I've had no luck in this area. The search has expanded to Rawai and Nai Harn. Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

There are numerous apartments on the soi that runs behind the Big One in Cherntalay. Some are brand new.

In Surin there are some very cheap (but very basic apartments) for B2500 a month on the street that goes to the entrance to the Surin Springs development.

Houses are harder to find, but apartments are all over the place.

Good luck! Would hate to lose you from the best part of the island!

This is a bit of good and bad news from me;

You sure can rent my house in Surin, all mod cons inside, new and fresh and you can rent it for 5000 a month. Its about 250 square meters, quiet scenic views.

Only problem its in Surin Province, not Ko Surin.

Sorry to hear about the spilt.

Ha! I thought I got lucky for a sec. Thanks for the kind words.

I really don't want to leave this area either...but my timing doesn't seem to be right. I'm not sure apartments would suit my predeliction for loud music. That's why a detached house with a little space would be ideal. I understand what I'm looking for is less than realistic....considering my budget and nit-picking, but, surely I'm due for a little bit of luck.

Oh...and Chalong is now in my sights.

How they know you are an American? Doesn't make sense they give

just anyone with blond hair a hostile glare.

OK! Get y'self down here and drive around - loads of houses going up around here! :o

In Soi Pattana 2 (Cherngtalay) there are houses for 5000.- BHT/month (blue roof). At least they were rented 1 year ago for that price.
