sriracha john Posted July 27, 2008 Share Posted July 27, 2008 (edited) Burmese boat crew kill 4 Thais Four Thai crew of a fishing boat were murdered and dumped into the sea by its 11 Burmese crew members in a robbery attempt at sea, marine police said yesterday. Koh Samui marine police inspector Pol Lt-Col Jira Yafong said his unit received a call from the Sombat Paiboon fishing boat after two of the Burmese were plucked from the sea off Koh Samui. The two rescued Burmese initially told police that they were among 11 Burmese crew members on the Silakaew 3 fishing boat in Samut Sakhon. They said the boat ran into a storm on Thursday night and capsized. The two said they clung to floating foam containers until the Sombat Paiboon came to their rescue. However, police found their accounts suspicious. After a five-hour questioning, the two confessed that they and the other nine Burmese killed the four Thais on the Silakaew 3 and dumped their bodies into the sea in the hope of trading the boat for money. Halfway back to shore, the boat ran out of petrol. To cover up their crime, they then sank the boat before calling for help.
