freitag1 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) WAR http://www.warhammeronline.com is coming and I guess most of the mmorpg heads here will give it a try. People in the beta are amazed how well it plays right now and this is imo the game that will give WoW a run for their subscribers. Here are some interesting facts: - Oceanic servers right from the beginning (They will be in Australia but nevertheless those will be "our" servers I guess) - You can play with the US version on Oceanic servers (Was said a while ago, but I would make sure before ordering from the US) - The release date it 18th of September I wonder if anyone has already pre ordered the game or where you plan to get it? I really would love to be online right from the beginning (to level together with the first wave of people) Edited August 12, 2008 by freitag1
Wolfie Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 The Pre-order is available from Direct2drive.com (http://www.direct2drive.com/6/6327/product/Buy-Warhammer-Online:-Age-of-Reckoning-(Pre-Order)-Download) but states only available to the US - with a proxy you can fool the system into thinking your from the US - or you could just wait until release when i would imagine Direct2drive.com will open the purchases to anyone/anywhere I'm really not sure about WHO - ive heard a lot of bad things about it from beta testers and the community, they have stripped a *lot* of content in order to push for hte september release date (including some of the major races!) - this does not bode well - if you choose to get into WHO early - i'd say prepare for the typical normal release headaches (or worse!) As with any MMO, if you want a smooth, hassle & bug free game experience - wait 3-4 months after release - so your looking at Pirates of the Burning Sea (which i hear from friends who play, has settled down nicely) and Age of Conan (from personal experience, the game is making good headway in getting issues fixed and the game stable - however the PvE servers are pretty much dead and the PvP servers seem "ok")
Sabum Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I buy pretty much every new online game as it comes out... I'm so bad... I buy them all from I27 at MBK. Great, now I told you and there might not be a copy for me now!

Great, now I told you and there might not be a copy for me now! Yeah, that store is great! Pretty much what Zest used to be 7 or 8 years ago. I was planning on dropping by there this week to ask the owner when he's planning to get his first shipment for that game.
freitag1 Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Wolfie, don't worry about the state of the game. They fixed so much in the last three months and it is in a very nice shape and absolutely addictive right now. The main problem were the "slow" combat but that was caused by the beta animations and they are now replaced with the real ones and everybody loves it. Does anyone know any Aussie game stores that ship to Thailand?
Sabum Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 You know that is the stupidest business move..... they should never have released Age of Conan in the state it was in, it was absolutely no fun, tedious to play and got boring almost right away, I have no interest in going back to check if they improved it. First impressions are critical and they grabbed a significant portion of the WOW client base only to have them run back to a game that ran smoothly. They could have made tons of money but seriously messed up, its too bad. Hopefully Warhammer will know better and strive to make a good initial impression to successfully snag a big portion of the MMORPG customers on a more permanent basis.
Roadkill Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Just found a link for a beta access key here: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=917441
