Changing Money?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Coming to Thailand very soon.

Just wondering - what should I do about money? Should I exchange some money into Thai baht before coming? Or should I just do it all in Thailand?

Also, what is the best way to go about it? At the moment, I have money in my bank account which I can take out of a Thai ATM machine, but don't know what my best option(s) is.

thanks

edit. live in UK - pounds £££

Depends on the fee your bank takes out.

there's no problem taking money on ATM as long you have Visa/MasterCard.

But buy some traveler checks in case, I don't know where you from.

Some more facts please. (nationality, currency, can not exchange Zimbabwe dollar)

If you come from Europe, US, AUS, then ATM would be best.

But be sure care two cards, if ATM eat's your MasterCard, have a backup.

I know you have pound, but info for everybody else.

you get a better rate in thailand ,id do it here

Don't change any money in UK. If you want to bring cash bring pounds and change them here, you'll get a better rate. I'd use an ATM card

I opened an account with nationwide, meaning i can take out money from an ATM anywhere in the world for free.

So, I should just take out money from the ATM?

Also, (I know) this will be a very, very, very dumb question...

..I go to the ATM machine, with my VISA/Mastercard. Go to take out money - I will see my money (and everything on screen), in Thai Baht? So when I take the money out, it will be in Thai Baht - therefore, no need to exchange?

appreciate help

excuse my ignorance :o

That's right, you ask for 10000 and you will get 10000 baht - 160 quid (ish). The ATMs are just the same as in the UK.
