Crime Fraudster With 14 Warrants Nabbed Posing as Political Insider
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A 35-year-old man with a string of fraud convictions has been arrested for deceiving multiple victims by claiming he could secure them teaching jobs through high-level political connections, for a hefty fee. Officers from Muang Buriram Police Station, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Wichasawat and Police Colonel Chamrat Siriliang, executed an arrest warrant issued by the Buriram Provincial Court (No. 220/2568, dated June 20, 2025). The suspect, identified as Mr. Plaphon “Kee” Klomlee, a local resident, is charged with impersonation, fraud and forging and using fake official documents. According to the investigation, Mr. Kee posed as a government official and claimed he could use his alleged connections with senior political figures to secure civil service teaching posts. He demanded payments ranging from 800,000 to 900,000 baht per person for “processing fees”. Seven victims from across Buriram Province fell for the scam, transferring a total of over 6 million baht. When questioned, Kee confessed to the crime, claiming he initially went along with the scam due to someone else initiating contact, but continued once others approached him, drawn by the easy income. “I knew it would catch up with me eventually,” Kee reportedly told officers. “I want to apologise to all the victims, especially my wife and child. I’ve done wrong. When I get out of prison, I will change. But I’m not sure my wife will wait for me.” Police checks revealed Kee was already facing seven other similar fraud cases and had previously been arrested. He is currently awaiting trial for those offences. Authorities are urging any additional victims to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. Accident Drunk Delivery Driver & Pickup Plunge Into Canal
Pictures courtesy of Khaosod. A delivery driver who admitted to drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel crashed his pickup truck into the back of a young woman’s car, sending both vehicles into a roadside canal near Thammasat University Rangsit Campus. Police and emergency responders from Klong Luang Police Station rushed to the scene on the outbound Phahonyothin Road frontage lane, after being alerted to the collision at around 07:00 on 7 August. Upon arrival, they found a Nissan March submerged partially on its side in a large water-filled ditch. The car was damaged, but the driver, 28-year-old Ms. Nichakan, had managed to escape with only minor injuries. Rescue teams recovered dozens of iPhones and accessories from the flooded vehicle. Ms. Nichakan, an online phone vendor, said she had just collected 40 iPhones for resale and was en route to her home in Nava Nakorn when the crash occurred. “I saw the pickup speeding behind me, then it slammed into my car and sent me off the road. The car plunged into the canal,” she said. “All the phones are ruined, I’ve lost hundreds of thousands of baht.” Roughly 20 metres from the first vehicle, an Isuzu pickup bearing Sakon Nakhon registration plates was also found submerged. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Mr. Supakorn escaped unharmed but appeared heavily intoxicated. Police found parcels in the back of the truck, confirming Mr. Supakorn was a delivery worker. He admitted to having consumed alcohol prior to driving home to Khlong Song. “Yes, I drank alcohol,” he told officers. Deputy Investigator Pol Lt. Supachai Chaemchoi photographed the scene for evidence and escorted Mr. Supakorn to Klong Luang Police Station for a formal alcohol breath test. Charges are expected to follow pending results of the investigation. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-08-08
