Hi,

We're just at the point of filling in the ILR application. I went through it a couple of months ago to check I was ok with it, but now we're close, wanted to check a couple of things.

Am I right in saying the evidence of relationship is now listing 6 letters, not 20 as before?

Is there anything else to be aware of that has recently changed on the requirements side?

One other small thing:

Page 4 1.8, "Home office reference if you have one". How would I know if we have one? Is it on the visa or anything like that?

Thanks in advance.

The burden of evidence is not so detailed on this application, I presume you mean section 10, then yes only 6 docs are required to service this part of the question.

The reference part refers to any correspondence you might have had, this will have your own unique reference number on all correspondence.

Good Luck

Thanks Moss,

We're not due to put in until October, but its getting closer and I don't want any surprises.

Just want to make sure we do everything right. Once this one is granted, things will seem a lot more secure.

I can't believe how quickly the last two years have gone. Doesn't time fly when your wife is Thai :o

If your wife has not previously made an application to the Home Office, she won't have a HO ref. If she has, the number will be quoted on any correspondence she has received from them.

Thanks Scouse,

The only contact she has had with The HO is the application for her initial visa in BKK. The only other document that is remotely official is her Life in the UK certificate.

Do people get any notification from HO that their 2 year visa is coming to an end? I don't suppose there are many people unaware, but was just wondering.

No, the onus is on the individual to be aware of their status. To be fair to the UKBA, it's simply not possible to notify people, as a large proportion change address within the two years and there is no requirement to advise the UKBA of such changes.

The UKBA pays little attention to an individual's address. Many years ago, they mounted an operation to track down overstayers. They collated all of the landing cards for those who did not appear to have left on time and the Immigration Service visited each and every address. Less than 3% were accurate: the other 97% had either written dodgy addresses to begin with or had moved.
