Asus P5B Motherboard

Win XP Pro (up to date)

While configuring two new drives in a RAID mirror my only two IDE devices (one HD and one CD Rom drive) have dropped off the map. The IDE Primary Channel and controllers are all reported as normal in device manager and I'm certain the issue is to do with the JMicron driver in some way although removing it and the RAID configuration utility didn't help. Most of what I can find online is about different versions of the motherboard and so far I've had no luck, even with a restore.

Anyone faced this problem or have advice?

Found them :o

It seems that the RAID controller has to be enabled in the BIOS even if you don't want to use it. The help section is very misleading and seems to indicate that this setting has no effect on the IDE function of the controller. Ah well, I didn't much planned for the last couple of days anyway.
