Ive just noticed that on many of my computer cables, the have some sort of round casing moulded into the cabel , any one know just what this is for, and what does it do ..? :o

I forget the technical term but it's a "filter". Prevents electrical signal from feeding back to the installed device. I kills extraneous signals from being transmitted to adjacent devices. If you have ever heard the term "twisted pairs" in wiring, serves the same function. Some one out there knows the correct term I just can't think of it.
