Suddenly every time I leave a website, ThaiVisa, MyYahoo, Google, etc I must sign back in when I return. It is not recognizing my computer or something. This after just changing browser windows or going to another site, not just when rebooting.

I have not changed anything in the way of settings. As a fix I have tried deleting cookies and then signing in to the sites again. I have run chkdsk, cookies are enabled and whatever I can think of.

OS=Windows XP Home, this occurs in both Firefox and IE. Any ideas appreciated.

Are your browser options set to accept cookies?

Yes, as stated "cookies are enabled ".

you should maybe check the security level of cookies in your browser options.

OK, you've got me on that one. I don't see a setting for that. How please?

Thus far;

1. Deleted cookies, re-signed in to websites

2. Deleted all temp files

3. Total defrag

4. Virus scan

I am at a loss and frustrated. I wanted to blame it on the internet connection but another computer works fine.

hello my advice does only apply to internet explorer as by default, the cookies security is medium or high, to change this, go to tools/option/ confidential(dunno the name as i'm using a french windows) it's just beside security.

you might have an antivirus or a protection software that disable/delete the cookies after you quit the website.

Thanks. I found that setting and it didn't seem to make much difference. The key to this whole problem is that I have been using this computer for a long time and never had this problem. To my knowledge I have not changed anything. Thanks for the suggestions, keep the coming.

even if you changed nothing, we're in a time of update by internet, so maybe one of your security program like firewall or antivirus has a new function activated by default causing this.

you should try looking that way and if it's really solutionless for now, why don't you try firefox as browser?

Thanks NHJ. You are right about the updates. I do use Firefox as my primary browser.

ah so maybe you should go and have a look in option/privacy and see if the boxes are still checked, default are 90 days of history and all boxes checked but not the one saying delete all personnal informations when exiting the program.

as yo use firefox, maybe you installed an extension that is reponsible for privacy/protected surf or something like that.

Not trying to sound like I have done it all, as obviously I haven't or it would be fixed. But, I have gone through every setting I can think of including the ones you suggest. That is what is so frustrating. I am fairly computer literate. Even more puzzling now is the fact that my.yahoo will retain my sign in and keep loading yet others will not. I guess I will just wait and see and hope something "clicks" and starts working again.
