Does anyone know what the average salary is for a starting attorney in Thailand?

The law firm I work for is doing an ever increasing amount of business in Thailand, and I heard some talk that we are in the process of acquiring a Thai law firm. It seems with the economic and income differences between Thailand and USA, when our US attorneys head to Thailand for business, there might be a huge income disparity between the locals and the US attorneys. Our law firm bills 275.00/hour but most of that is retained by the firm and its revenue sharing partners, associates only make a fraction of that.

A sarting attorney in Thailand is someone who has just graduated from Uni. They can anything from Bt. 6k to Bt. 25k, depending on where they graducated from, which firm the work for, and what they specialize in.

Yes- there is a huge disparity between Thai and foreign lawyers - and don't think the Thais don't know it! OTH, a 7 p.q. lawyer, with an international firm, could be earning in excess of 250k p.m.

A 3 year p.q. lawyer, with an international firm like Baker & McKenzie, will cost you in the region of 225 to 275 US$s per hour.

Revenue sharing operates in the same way - although partner revenue earnings and pooling need to be factored in.
