I am thinking about taking a trip to Langkawi while visiting Penang for a visa trip. But is it worth the extra effort and expense? After visiting Koh Phi Phi and other such incredible Thai islands, how does Langkawi stack up? Are the mangrove islands of the marine park beautiful to see? I can't find many pictures online (other than resort photos and I plan to stay somewhere more budget-friendly), so I'm not sure what to expect.

I like a quiet relaxing atmosphere where my boyfriend and I get away from busy Bangkok! I would love to have a stretch of beach nearly to ourselves, rent kayaks and explore the mangroves, or snorkle without 50 other people surrounding us. Is this possible in Langkawi?

I'd really appreciate any feedback from those who have visited Langkawi. Thanks!
