EVA Updates Baggage Allowances

Simplified rules ease domestic connections

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (March 31, 2008) – EVA Air is updating its free baggage allowances on trans-Pacific flights to bring them in line with domestic rules and help offset continually climbing jet fuel prices. Consistency with current domestic requirements will make international travel more convenient and less confusing for passengers connecting to or from domestic carriers. Changes apply to travel and ticketing after 15 April, 2008.

EVA’s updated baggage allowances:

Cabin Class

EVA Piece System for trans-Pacific Service

Premium Laurel/ Business

EVA Premium Laurel business class passengers will be allowed a third free piece of checked baggage of up to 23 kg. (50 lb.) in weight. Evergreen Club Diamond, Gold and Silver Card frequent flyer program members traveling in any of EVA’s three cabin classes on trans-Pacific flights can also check a third piece of baggage free as long as it does not weigh more than 23 kg. I called EVA SFO yesterday to ask the same question. Extra bag, SFO - BKK, up to 50lbs would cost $199.
