Funeral Bangkok

My daughter is coming to see me and my wife for the first time, 14^th November, unfortunately we have asked around and found out, because of the forthcoming funeral, Bangkok seems to be shut 14^th, 15^th & 16^th , open 17^th, and closed again 18^th & 19^th, whilst I respect and understand the need for Thai people to mourn, I also want my daughter’s first visit to be enjoyable and want to come back, she is here for 12 days, can anybody furnish me with news of other areas and arrangements, we have a car and want to take her around Thailand, but now we are not sure where to go.

http://www.kanchanaburi-info.com/ Kanchanaburi is a good place to about 3 hours west of BKK, worth the trip to see Bridge over river Kwai, war cemetry and tiger temple. Ayutthaya is well worth a visit too http://www.bangkoksite.com/ayutthayapage/index.htm, there are many other too but these are my favourites.
