Etihad Airways and Bangkok Airways announce codeshare agreement

Providing passengers with greater access to destinations in Thailand

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has teamed up with Bangkok Airways, a leading regional airline in Asia known as ASIA"S BOUTIQUE AIRLINE, in a new codeshare agreement that is set to fly passengers between the Abu Dhabi-based airline's expanding global network and the popular Thai destinations of Phuket and Koh Samui.

Under the deal, the Abu Dhabi-based airline will place its two-letter 'EY' code on Bangkok Airways' flights between the Thai capital city and these popular islands. The announcement is part of Etihad's plan to extend further its global network and brings to twelve the number of codeshare agreements now operated by the airline.

Heading is a bit misleading, codeshare or not, travellers have the same options.

but good move on BK Air's part, direct exposure to Etihad flyers and for those using other airlines, they still have a monopoly on many routes they fly in and around the Kingdom.

For Etihad, they get to say they fligh Abu Dhabi - Samui for example.

Only advise is booking your flight whit Etihad and not Thai Airways because normally Thai Airways is about 20 to 30% more expensive than the original carrier on share flights.

Also use advanced booking, if possible 6 months beforehand you can safe again a lot of money again

Haha, double incorrect.

1. If someone booked 6 months ago to travel now, back then oil was 140$, surcharges almost as high as ticket itself. So, the prices were almost double to what they were yesterday when oil is 35$.

2. To slash already lower prices (no or negligent fuel surcharge), just announced today: Thai Airways to cut prices 50%

So, otherwise common wisdom to book early, would have seen someone pay almost 400% of today's price.

It's Bangkok Airways and not Thai Airways.
