Hi,

I'm looking to get ADSL in my home over the next month or so, I've got a TT&T phone line currently and they are saying my telephone number can recieve ADSL.

So far so good.

Looking over the list of ISPs they support and the huge varience in costs, i'm a bit confused as to whom would be best ISP for what i want the connection for.

If anyone uses one of the following ISP's, would you be prepared to do a little test on something for me (just a Tracert to a server and PM me the data)

ISP's

KSC

csLoxInfo

CMNet

JI-Net

INE

i-San

Sisaket connect

CNet

Net-Zone

Thai-IT

True

Open a Command Window and type 'tracert 12.129.133.92 > C:\tracert.txt' (without the quotes) This wil lcreate a file called "tracert.txt" on your C Drive, just open it and copy/paste the results here or pm them to me.

Thanks, theres a beer in it for anyone who can help :o:D

Hi,

Nice one Wolfie - I've been thinking about it too, but need a new PC first. I'll be very interested in what you decide on. I guess there's not much I can do to help with my dial-up, but if I can, let me know.

Cheers,

Pity it is TT&T.

I am on TOT and was surprised and delighted that I do not need an ISP.

I simply pay TOT 500baht for 256/128k link and that is it!!

I can connect to the internet and surf to my heart's content.

I still have my dial up account with Loxley for the mail id, but I could use

a web based mail service like Hotmail or Yahoo.

Oops - just checked, my line is TOT.

astral - can you give me name of the service you have? I'll start Googling for it, but I always prefer personal recommendations... :o

Sorry I do not know a name for it.

This is the web site with the details.Sorry it is in Thai.

I just went into the local TOT office and said I wanted adsl, and they gave me the

form to fill in. No deposit.

There are 3 levels:

supercyber 256/128 - 500baht

silvercyber 512/256 - 700 baht

goldcyber 1024/512 - 1000baht

I asked them about what isp they recommend, and they looked blank.

I eventually realised that I do not need an isp!! Wonderful.

I was expecting an isp fee on top.

OK, thanks - I see it on their web site. I'll investigate at my local office... :o

It should be noted that it took about 10 days for the adsl carrier to be activated,

and then another 2 weeks before they got it configured so that it worked!!

The local technicians know how to plug in the modem, but that is it.

Anything more and you have to dial 1100 for the TOT call centre,

fortunately they do speak English.

Thanks for the info... Do you have to buy any equipment [adsl modem?] or anything else, and does TOT supply that? If so, what's the cost?

Thanks again.

:o  It would appear my thread got hijacked...

Not really. You received lots of useful info on adsl possibilities.

TOT does provide modems, but check out what they provide first.

They are fairly basic model, but the prices are cheap.

Get a modem/router. Better security.

I already knew about ADSL possibilities, i wanted info on connection to a specific server... i got two replies...

Still, when all else fails, do it yourself...
