China Airlines Cancels Shanghai - London Route

Featured Replies

I had booked (paid for and confirmed) BKK-Shanghai-London with a week in Shanghai in early May, returning mid June with China Airlines but have been told today that they are cancelling the Shanghai - London leg of the route. The only carrier available is BA at an additional 15% plus I have already booked and paid for a connecting BKK-CNX flight - I'm pressuring CA to put me on the BA flight at the very least if not sort out the penalty I'll have to pay Air Asia for a flight change and unwanted overnight stay in BKK but it's tough going and the travel agent, while sympathetic, is being typically Thai-passive.

Anyone else been affected and if so how has China Airlines treated you?

China Airlines has never been flying Shanghai-London.

China Airlines is a Taiwanese Airline and its hub is Taipei.

The public is always confused about this.

Air China = Mainland China

China Air = Taiwan

Easily confused

Indeed, China Airlines does fly to Shanghai, but only from Taiwan and on charter flights.

Yes, but the OP was implying direct. At least he got the IATA code correct; CA = Air China - though I suspect that was his own abbreviation, rather than an intentional use of the code.
