Hi there, I have the standard 30 day visa right now which finishes end of this month but want to stay around for an extra few days as a friend will be here. now where to apply to extend this? i will be going near to laos soon so i can do a border run for 15 days but would rather see what i can do here first. any advice will be greatly appreiciated. thanks kez

You have a visa exempt entry. You an only extend it by 7 days and for that immigration wants a fee of 1,900 baht and to see a ticket out of the country.

Might be beter to get a (60 day) tourist visa from Vientianne, they are free at this moment.

Agree. Hop over the border for another 15 days or go to the Consulate for a Tourist Visa. Up to you.

so if i was to go to anyone in bkk all i could get is 7 days max for nearly 2000 baht? hmmm not so good. looks like laos is the option to go for. how long does it take if i was to do 15 days at the border without going into laos? thanks for your help mario

You have to enter Laos and come back. A visa for Laos will cost you 1,500 Baht.

i understand that. but can i do everything at the border at nong kai for the 15 days? thanks litebeer

Yes, they will just give you a stamp. Same as at the airport.
