Today : Friday, 12 June 2009

It is 87 days from the start date to today

Or 2 months, 26 days.

That's 12.42 weeks @ 7 days a week = 87 days

But. 12.42 weeks @ 5 working days= 62 days

Meaning a possible extra 28 days?

I really hope not :D

There are also eight days for Thai holidays to come of of that so that reduces it to working 54 days...................sorry Ken. :D

And that means only 47 working day for us with up to 33 more to go. :):D

But just to confuse things a bit the message on the VFS web page on 2nd June about processing times refered to twelve weeks, NOT working days.

I just hope they didn't mean twelve weeks from the date of that message. :D

Does the above include the 1/2 working day on Friday? AND.....don't forget to deduct 4th June too :D ....from the Embassy Website in Bangkok. Made me chuckle anyhow:

"The British Embassy was delighted by the huge turnout for the Queen 's Birthday Party, held on Thursday 4 June at the Grand Hyatt Erawan to celebrate the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.

The British Ambassador to Thailand, Quinton Quayle , described this year's event as "bigger, better and more fun" than ever. About 1000 guests joined the celebrations, which provided an opportunity to reflect on the strong friendship and many ties between the UK and Thailand....."

Sounds like it was an absolute blast :D Any members of this thread get an invite and go? :D

I'm trying to think positive..............but I've just worked out that if they're still saying up to ninety working days then, including the two days holiday in July and two in August, we could have to wait another seven weeks. Once we've actually got the visas it's probably going to take three/four weeks to move all our furniture etc. to the inlaws house to store then find somebody to rent our house before we can actually fly to the UK, but my wife and stepdaughter's TB certificates are only valid for about another eight weeks. Eleven into eight just don't go, but they can't enter the UK without a valid certificate.

At what point do I stop thinking positive and start to panic? :D

Hi its been 10wks today since my application went in :D

I have booked my flight back to thailand for the 28th June return back to the UK with the wife & baby son on the 16th July :) hopefully visa should be granted before then, 16wks should be enough time for us all to wait, :D anyway the flights were a bargain booked them through Expedia my flight £381.00rtn & the wifes & babys £430.00sng combined, Flying with Eithiad to & from Manchester short stay in Abu Dhabi 2hrs excellent if it all comes off :D

Hope I get an answer before I fly out on the 28th June then I can have a family holiday with no stress :D

(RTD 14/6) can someone update me on the list please

Good luck everyone above me on the list I now feel I have no right to get my visa before any of you or before the 12wk timescale, after that I am going to get angrey-er :D:D

hi all take it easy i think next week will be a good one :) i know it is of no comfort to us all still waiting

but i was wondering if it was just as bad same time last year ?

I don't remember hearing anybody complain about any delays last year. In May last year my wife had her (third) visit visa within 24 hours, and the people I spoke to while we were at the VFS centre to collect it, had only been waiting days, certainly not weeks and months like we are. I do know that two years ago I helped two friends put together their wifes settlement applications (one February, one April) while they were here on holiday and they both received their answer after four days and were able to take their wives back with them.

When we went to take our application to the VFS centre in March they were certainly busier than I'd seen them before and and some people (agents?) had several applications with them.

I think what Boo said in an earlier post about more people applying around this time because of a). the big devaluation of the GBP over the last year os so has made it much more expensive for us to live here, and :D. the cost of settlement visas went up quite significantly in April could be part of the reason. BUT THESE REASONS would only help to explain the delays in settlement visas, they would have no effect on other visas at all (eg. visit visas only went up by £2) and their delays have gone up from a few days to 4-6 weeks. So although they have to make things worse for us I don't think they are the major reasons, I'm sure it's something else that's causing the bulk of the delay. For increased applications to be the reason (as suggested on the VFS webpage on 2nd June) the increase would have to be MASSIVE to increase the processing time from less than two weeks to three months or more (a 6-7 fold increase). I wouldn't have thought (rumored) reduced staffing levels alone could cause this sort of delay either, and likewise the rumor of applications from Vietnam being processed in Bangkok wouldn't have any significant effect as they have far less applications than Thailand does. Maybe it's also instructions from the UK, who knows? Maybe it's a combination of all of these reasons.

But I think we've probably got more chance of flying to the moon than being told the truth so all we CAN do is just sit and wait. :D :D :D

There were no delays last year. I put my wifes fiance settlement visa in on the 30th of Jan last year and the passport was back at the VFS centre about a week later.

Has anybody got a phone number to phone the embassy direct???

dont bother, its an automated system that takes 20 mins and sends you to a choice that says you can only fax or email no calls are accepted

Yes, that's correct. In fact I think that if you phoned Buckingham Palace's switchboard you'd have more chance of being put through to the Queen!

Don't bother with emailing the embassy either, their replies are never helpful. The only thing is fax that seems to work, if ever.

looks like it will be a long week for you guys :) but 13 weeks is a joke, I hope you guys get an answer next week and taken off this list, this way I might have a chance of getting mine by the 25th, but looking at the process time on VFS website we could be waiting a lot more longer

95% (60 working days) 99% (90 working days) 99% (120 working days) based on Aprils figures, I hope I am not one of those 5% who will be waiting for 4 - 6 months to hear anything :D it will be interesting to see May's figures as it looks like every month is getting worse

Hi there.

I have been following this topic daily, as we submitted my wife's application for settlement on the 30th March, Still no news and have already forgeot what my wife looks like. I have not seen her since the start of March, :D I had been living with her for nearly 5 years and after a motorcycle accident had to return to the UK.

The stress is killing both of us and from what i have read many other people are feeling the same.

I have my fingers crossed that many here will hear something this week, and put an end to the waiting.... Good luck everyone, we are thinking of all you missing eachother out there.

:)

Hey all, thought I'd jump on this...

We applied 29th April... Not sure what RTD means, 'cause I didn't read all 30-odd pages. I guess the date you said you were travelling??

We said 1st July I think, because I thought "It might take a month or so..." HAH!

Good luck all...
