Following an international career my wife (who is Thai) and I retired here in Chiangmai last August. I am therefore here on a "retirement" visa. My previous organization has now just offered me a full-time working position based in Bkk. This would entail changing from retirement visa to ___________?

Advice on process required (and what not to do) would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

You are presently on a non (O) Immigrant visa as a retiree.

This has to be changed to a non (B) Immigrant visa.

O: ordinary – B: Business.

If employed, Immigration law imposes that you earn a minimum of 40000 baht per month.

You must apply for a work permit and give details of your employment and earnings to the tax office.

The visa and work permit is valid for 12 months. If you leave or are sacked from the present employment prior to the 12 months, than you must leave the kingdom within 7 days unless the company signs you out, you have another job or can return to a retirement status visa.
