Warning To Air Travellers Going Via Mumbai

A wrning to air travellers who may have to pass throught Mumbai airport. Especially to those who travel Jetairways where you have to change planes at Mumbai. Whne boarding for the last leg of you flight one must go through another security check. This is where you might have problems. Your hand baggage is taken from you to be X rayed and you have to go through the normal metal screening, searching etc. It is whilst you hand baggage is out of you sight that the theft occurs.

Recently a passenger from UK to Thailand had a digital camera and a wad of cash stolen. He of course didn't notice the theft until he was airborne. A relative of mine had an item of clothing stolen even though I had warned him about what was going on. These people are VERY quick...

Alos don't carryany bottles in your hand luggage. A passenger en route to Thailand bought 2 very expensive bottles of champagne duty free at Heathrow. Despite the bottles being clearly customs sealed and untampered with the Indian officials would not let him take them on the plane. Blatent theft, so be warned.

Either lock your hand luggage or immediately check the contents after you retrieve it from the X ray proceedure.

This is surely standard procedure, in many other countries also, which is why I can't buy whisky at LGW when flying home to BKK via Doha ? The Duty-Free shop asks you, are you connecting to an onward flight, and refuses to sell liquids to you !
