Memory Cards

Featured Replies

Will be visiting in April/May and was wondering if anyone could tell me what sort of price a basic 1GB or 2GB compact flash card can be bought for in Bangkok. I can get a Sandisk compact flash card for US$74.95 1GB and $146.95 2GB (approx B3000 and B5800) on the internet. Will I get any better than this ?

Also is it fairly easy to get somewhere to download my images from a memory card to CD, will be in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chaiyaphum ( probably not !). Just thinking of ways to free up my memory cards.

Thanks

I used to get charged 35b to get something burned onto CD if I provided my own CD. Shop around... there's no shortage of internet shops. :o

There's digital photo shops everywhere who will download your pics from the memory cards, print and save to CD at same time.

At those prices you had better bring some with you.

I would buy a 2Gb card from you.

See this site for a comparison.

Thanks guys,

Had a quick look at that site Astra and actually they are not a great deal more, when you compare like for like, especially when I have to add shipping charges on those prices I quoted. Although I will be ordering some other stuff so a memory card wouldnt add more to the shipping costs this time.

For your info these are the people I deal with.

Cheers

BH photo is a fairly premium site. If you shop around in the US, you can find considerable discounts on the net.

Flash prices in Thailand aren't very good, especially in the retail stores. If you want prices that are close to US retail, you need to shop around, and only in the major provinces (not Chaiyapum). Also, the selection is not that great.

yes, i would bring my own flash memory. i have never seen a 2gb flash in the store, and the 1gb flash"s are rare enough. Maybe because the average Thai doesn't need or can't afford such a thing. I have seen 1gb flash's at compusa for 59.95 with rebate, (memorex), this is probably an unbeatable price.

Thanks guys I'll buy before I come. I only use bhphotovideo because I dont live in the states and they will ship here. Having said that their prices aren't bad especially compared to here (Bermuda) where a 1gb card goes for $138 !!

Thanks again

Consumer electronics and computer hardware in Thailand is pricey, particularly on the leading edge which can also be non-existent. Best to baseline prices with pricewatch.com USA street prices. 1G/2GB CF go for $66/$95 right now.
