Thaksin is sitting right in Singapore and that government laughs at the Thai government that wants him.

I saw CNN interview him and he seems quite calm.

Of course the government in Thailand blocked it and instead showed a replay of the sports report on CNN.

Funny how much you hate him but really you hate the people who voted for him and then the next and the next.

When the reds win the next election, and they will, will you throw out the next PM as well?

How many coups has Thailand had in 100 years? Is it 17 or closer to 20?

Just say it.

You who run the Yellow want NO democracy in Thailand.

Be honest and at least i could then respect you but now you act like dishonest little children hiding your real power behind nonsense.

Just say it.

You hate democracy in Thailand.

Are you claiming that the Thai government cut and paste CNN boardcaste? This is not possible. I do not believe you. CNN comes from satelite dirrectly from Atlanta, and beam straight to the receiver in Thailand. How can Thai government intercept the signal, and boardcaste something else? Please support your claim with proof. I have seens Thaksin face before in CNN recently.

No can not block CNN because they are AMERICAN (the police of the world). They may try to block signal from some of the other weaker countries (BBC, AZJ, CCTV, CNA, etc).

HAAA HAAA

Thailand turned off CNN completely in the past. You have us all laughing.

About what I said. All the Thais know it is true and I read it at the CNN site.

After announcing that the Thaksin interview will be aired in Thailand, now the satellite TV company, UBC, has given in to pressure and will not broadcast the interview after all. I do not know whether the interview will be available in Thailand via other sources.

The following appears in the BANGKOK POST:

_____

UBC Bows to Military Pressure, Agrees to Censorship

Bangkok Post reporters

The Thaksin Shinawatra interview with CNN on its weekly Saturday Talk Asia show will not be seen in Thailand.

Thailand's main pay-TV provider said yesterday it would block an interview with deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra that CNN plans to run this evening. UBC spokeswoman Kantima Kunjara told the AFP news agency that they will not air it because of a request by the Council for National Security (CNS).

"Since the CNS has asked for cooperation from the broadcasting media not to broadcast statements from former prime minister Thaksin, UBC will cooperate and will not broadcast his interview," she said.

The Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT) plans to replay the interview at the clubhouse on Monday.

In a letter sent to members yesterday, the FCCT expressed "deep disappointment" with UBC's decision to block excerpts of the interview, made in Singapore on Jan 15.

The FCCT decided to send a letter of concern to Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont on Jan 16 because it considered UBC's action "regardless of on whose direction it was taken," to be "unnecessary and improper interference".

In the letter to Gen Surayud, FCCT president Ian Williams noted that the prime minister "made much of the importance of an open and responsible press" during an address to the FCCT on Nov 7.

"We hope that you will take steps to uphold this position, and also do everything in your power to promote a balanced debate in all the media about Thailand and its present situation," he added.

The FCCT president said the "attempt at censorship casts the Thai authorities in a poor light, and is in many ways pointless" as the interview had been reproduced in a number of publications and on several websites, and was available on YouTube.

Media watchdog Reporters Without Borders said: "Censoring or blocking news or information carried by any media does not prevent the information's existence, and those who want to have access to it usually succeed."

I have heard what sounds like several explosions from about 9.30 am till now (10.00 am), at intervals. I am in Sathorn, but cannot see anything. I do not want to be alarmist, but is anyone else hearing this, seeing anything?

My wife mentioned hearing 3 'explosions' about 9.45am, we live near Sathorn.

Are you sure it isn't just big firecrackers? I've heard quite a few over the past few days because of Songkran. It disturbed me too until I remembered that most Thais are still out "playing water" instead of staying in to watch news.

Could be a traditional style funeral?

As I said before: They are just canon shots down by the port. Happens 3-4 times a week. Been living down at Prakhanong for years now and see these shots regularly from my window and balcony. There is a loud boom, followed by small whit clouds about 50 meters above the ground. Not sure what it is, but it is quite "normal". I believe it's something like welcome shots whenever a new ship arrives at the port. So really, nothing to worry....these "explosions" are absolutely normal down here and have nothing to to with the protests.

Wonder if the reds will condemn the BBC and CNN for their reporting? It is not very sympatheitic to the reds - damaged their cause, only two deaths not caused by military, collapsing momentum, locals turning on reds etc

CNN and BBC must be in the pay of the Thai authorities.

BBC & CNN have had interviews with both Thaksin & Abhisit plus a leader of the reds so how are they not impartial. Thaksin's PR machine has manipulated news ever since his rise & fall from power although now it seems the mainstream media are starting to see through his machinations. His performance on CNN bordered on the hysterical. To preach he is fighting for democracy shows how hypocritical he is considering he totally abused the spirit of the 1997 constitution which was deliberated & presented by many well respected Thais. He further cemented his democratic ideals by putting a yoke on all the checks & balances, had all his cronies withold valuable advertising from media unsympathetic to him. In fact I thought he once said Thailand does not need democracy, please correct me if I am wrong, but the famous "UN is not my father" is a classic.

In this day & age it is extremely difficult to hide the truth consideirng the number of video phones & cameras in the hnads of private individulas. I remember in 1992 when the authorities blacked out the newspapers & controlled the TV stations but forgot about how BBC etc were sending out reports via their mobile satellite dishes.

Maybe where you are, but where I am there are not nearly as many out playing as in previous years. That's good for me. :o

In Italy we say "arrampicarsi sugli specchi". The english translation, related to the red militants and sympatizers, is something like "climb on the mirrors". Is it clear?

Finding any uncredible excuse to justify the one side violence creating fake rumors about hundred of victims, the army shooting like killers on peaceful unarmed protesters, telling yellow tshirt go undercover with red clothes to create destabilization, thai government edit the CNN interviews, etc etc

Please, be more serious!

If you would like to see Thaksin's first CNN interview it is here:

edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2009/04/13/sot.thai.thaksin.injured.cnn

His BBC interview is here: (Halfway down the page)

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7996241.stm

As the Times of London said: "Thaksin Shinawatra, his exiled antagonist, was shrill and unconvincing."

If indeed , as Thaksin claims, many people were killed or injured by troops firing live M16 rounds at the protesters where are the bullet holes? Where is the blood? Where are the bodies? The whole area was full of press and photographers, both Thai and international. If there had been a single body the red shirts would have immerdiately summoned nearby photographers to record the event. In this era of wifi and internet impossible to cover up. Agencies are begging for such photos, so far I haven't seen a single one.

I can understand that you are sad that your hero has fallen off his soap box but that should not preclude you from being, at least, sensible!

Even if the leaders surrender, there are still the roving bands of crazed reds to take under control. This will still take a while. Does anyone know if the government has decided to extend Songkran?

Sorry the Red don't speak good English. Unlike the yellow. Perhaps there are some interview, but the quality of their their bg English is so bad, the foreign news just refuse to air them.

Just look at the Englsih of their leaders. Mark (even have an English name) vs Thaksin.

Fluency in English has nothing to do with it... Besides, news agencies like BBC and CNN can afford a translator.

Mark AKA: Oba-Mark... In light of recent events, some would refer to Thaksin as "ThugSIN"...

Huh? :o

Who? What? Sorry, I don't know what your post has to do with me discussing Abhisit/Thaksin nicknames or to whom it was directed to...

I don't 'hate' anybody, if you read my very post carefully you'd see I'm a 'neutral'. All my opinions have been expressed objectively. Like any sensible person, I want this conflict to end. Personally, I don't care who wins or comes out on top. Leaders on both sides need to stop being selfish and start making sacrifices. No one is going to get what they want, not the Government/PAD nor Thaksin/UDD.

Team Thaksin must be down to the 3rd reserve list, with this sort of commentary.

Is Madi talking about the CNN interview yesterday - which has been played many times

on local (Thai) Truevision feed since last night - and into this morning?

Or is these some other "wise words" from the Joker's Bunker ???

Channel 11 reported at 11:04 am Tuesday quoting Veera Musigapong, a red-shirted leader, as telling the protesters at the Government House to disperse.

Weng Tojitrakan, another red-shirted leader, asked soldiers to move back by 20 metres so that the protesters could pick up their belongings and disperse.

Veera told the crowd that the voluntarily dispersing was not a defeat of the red-shirted movement but was aimed at protecting the life of the protesters.

Local TV reporting the Govt is going to supply bus's to take the red back home, up country or wherever.

I'd say that's a smart move...ease tensions...and get them outta town.

Well the interview with mr t was on bbc news24 last night and he said he was not behind all the unrest and that he was not paying for it.

Local press reporting no clear confirmation of crowd dispersal at the Government House. Mr. Veera is claiming and end to protests, while another UDD leader, Jattuporn is saying otherwise. There seem to be some conflict of interest going on among the UDD leadership...

Regardless of the reports, I'm hoping this is finally coming to an end. Now bring those PAD leaders to justice for their crimes.

Labour MP Chris Carter is in the midst of tensions in Bangkok where two people have been killed and dozens injured in street clashes.

Mr Carter said he and partner Peter Kaiser had intended to have a quiet holiday during the parliamentary recess.

"It certainly has been an action packed two days while I've been here," he said.
