Thai Female Wants To Work Abroad

Featured Replies

I have a good Thai female friend who wants to work (not the wrong kind of work) and earn money abroad. She is still young and intelligent, but not highly educated.

Are there any countries for which she can get a visa and where she will be allowed to work ?

Other suggestions are also welcome.

For the UK, see Working in the UK

For a Thai to go abroad, they must have at least this: A considerable amount of money in the bank with statements to prove she has at least 300,000 baht , some land and property, a house a car etc... this is only to show that she will not desert her own country. As for going abroad without being educated, she should consider learning a bit of English on the side. She should try to go to Sweden. It's a nice place to live. They have free eduation and health plans and she can find jobs anywhere there especially if she is internet savvy. She can find a job on the internet and maybe get placed somewhere and the company could take care of her work permits and such. Or... she could get some training here in Thailand as a "Spa Therapist," learn english on the side and the company that she works for here can re-locate her to China, UK, USA, etc... Most of my Thai friends have gone all over the world from doing just that. I woud do that if I was wanting to get out of my own country and wated to see what the rest of the world has to offer.

Okay, Minniefarang and 7by7 : highly appreciated ! :)

One question, Minniefarang, I quote :

Is this always required ? That would mean a poor Thai cannot leave the country, or am I missing something ?

To get a tourist visa for many coutries this could well hold true. Many countries require substantual proof that you will return to Thailand.

If a person was to get a job in another country and it was handled properly all those requirement would not be required.

This is certainly not a requirement as far as the UK is concerned. If it were, then the majority of Thais currently living/working/studying or even just visiting the UK would not be here!
