As we all know, finding a computer desk that is THE desk for your needs is very difficult,

and I am not even thinking about those Bt399-Bt699 shit from the "big3 hypermarts".

One way to go would be to find "someone"-"somewhere" to have a desk done to one's

own specifications, for myself I would like something quite simple design, metal, (chrome), welded

legs/support frame, wooden/glass top shelf, some support welded on the sides to put the miditower

on one side and possibly a subwoofer on the other, all hidden underneath,

By using welding should reduce the cost compare to drilling precision holes and inserting scews and all that,

Shouldn't cost more than Bt3000-Bt5000 to have one done including material a thai friend tells me,

problem is where? down here in Chonburi, anybody know?

I got some good solid metal-legged folding tables on sale from Office Depot at Seacon Square (free delivery) a couple of months ago. Good solid stuff, diamond white laminate. My monitors sit on top of some Teso plastic draws where I keep odds and ends of stationery, but three pieces of laminate and some screws would provide a shelf. Suits me - YMMV.

I've played a bit with SketchUp trying to build killer desk. But where to have it built.. just not sure. I have had some metal and wood work done here however, just some welders and carpenters on the soi. I'll bet if you gave the the plans they could put something together. But unlikely to have the polish of a good office desk.

I designed mine myself and had a custom furniture builder install it. It's quite large as it accommodates, the PC on a sliding drawer, keyboard tray, and shares a work surface for printer, speakers TV, Xbox, DVD, UBC, as well as storage drawers of different sizes, covering the span of one wall.

Mine is entirely timber though so the cost was quite a bit higher than your expectations, but it was the only way to get exactly what I wanted in the space I had.

He is now spending his time designing and building sets for various TV shows. I will PM his number to you but note he may not take on smaller jobs any more, he did ours whilst he was doing various other jobs around the house.

If it doesnt work out with him you may want to check with any of the interior design firms in the interior design mags (which is how we found them in the first place), most will probably be thankful for what jobs they can get!

I have has many offices & homes, all over the world. Go buy yourself a decent dining 'style' of table & chair/s

My best one ever was a huge, antique conference table - seats 16 people. Room to spread everything. Robust.

There is nothing uglier than an el-cheapo regulation desk. Think outside the box.
