I have used the Search function but cannot find anything regarding my particular problem--so, here goes:

I recently took my daughter's P.C. into a city centre P.C. repair centre [ a good one it seems] and asked them to do a clean re-install of XP as I had tried unsuccessfully to do this--I specified that, being a 'farang' I would need the chosen language to be English--so far so good--the computer was sorted and 'mostly' is in English--however, there are some annoying things that are still in Thai--the date/time function shows Thai months, and certain programs that have been installed since it returned are showing all the context menus in Thai--not being a Thai lang. reader this makes for doing any maintenance, making adjustments etc...fairly tricky--I have deleted Thai from the language bar choices and even put a tick where it advises users from Asian languages to be wary since ' it would disable support for languages from S.E. Asia ' or some similar jargon---anyone know what else I can do to stop the dam_n thing displaying some stuff in Thai???

P.S. Could a Mod please add the missing 'P' in Topic title, please.

You have to set the location of your computer to the US (or another country).

As long as this is set to Thailand, date/time will be in Thai format, and for example many drivers/software bought in Thailand will install automatically in the Thai language.

In the control panel, look for regional settings and make sure all of them are pointing to US choices.

Aha--I missed that setting--thanks a zillion--that must be why they call you XP Wizard!

My PCs are set to English(US) settings and formats but location is listed as Thailand and I have no problem about date etc., all is in English since you can specify it in the regional settings.

The location setting, although I have never seen it in action, is claimed to supply local information from websites, etc. It is Standards and Formats that have the impact on XP displays. I am not even sure who or what uses the Location setting, except maybe some Microsoft sponsored sites.
