Download Managers

Featured Replies

Hi,

Looking for a good download manager with no spyware, adware and the likes.

Currently using Fresh Download, which does the job pretty well enough. One of the features I like is its ability the scan a web page for all links to a certain type of file (such as .mp3), then download the lot. The problem with this is that for each file, a separate dialogue box appears which sometimes takes the focus away from my current window.

Anybody know any download software with similar capabilities?

Thanks in advance....

I used FlashGet by amazoft www.amazesoft.com/ , need to register to remove ad, verygood for me. increasing up to 10 transfers :o

I use LeechGet 2004 and it seems to work fine. I am not sure about the spyware stuff as I get it coming in just from logging onto TV.

I tried a few other download managers but this one suited me the best.

I hope that helps

Just tried this one - thanks for the advice. Was going well, but can only download 8 files simultainously with no ability to queue the rest up. Bit of a shame considering the very smooth GUI...

Insight,

On LeechGet, go to the Extras tab then Options and you can increase the number of downloads to a max of 20. You can also enter 10 downloads directly in the download profiles area. I've had 10 downloads running at the same time.

I'm not computer savvy but it might work for you.

I use Star Downloader.

Not the best but it is free (I like free) and very easy to use.

You can set the number of download and number of splits per download yourself.

I use Free Download Manager.

Features that I like:

Its FREE

No Spyware

HTML Spider: download a complete website

You can set the number of download and number of splits per download.

Is supported by FireFox extension FlashGot.

You can also download all files with the same extension (as MP3) files from a web page.

Cheers NarrLing, but I'd prefer to download one at a time, one after the other. LeechGet doesn't seem to have that option.

Got a URL Tiz?

Using getright,

Like it because it has an efficient bandwith throttle!

I have it set at around 75% of my download speed available(20kbps out of 28kbps available on my 256/128 adsl), so I'm still able to surf the web without to much slowdown...

Using fullspeed downloads makes surfing very slow...

Also using FreshDownload and it's so far the best for me. I get about 180k/s. Getright makes surfing very slow but I don't have a problem with Fresh.
