Hi

Time ago i went to a Buddhist temple in Bangkok (my first time), with my bloody digital camera and my desire to know a monk

Well, i didnt take photos inside, because i was very surprised for the facial expresion of a monk

After 10 or 15 minutes looking how he was putting a sort of wrist lace in other people, he call me to approach him a he put me the wrist lace in my right harm. He told me something about luck but a couldnt understand what he said.

Somebody knows whats mean this lace?

Thanks in advance

That is called Sai-sin in thai and is just a physical momento to remind us. The person who tied it...sometimes a monk...sometimes friends or relatives...are wishing us luck and good health. Often given when someone is going away on a long journey...or at a marriage ceremony or house-warming...or if we have survived an accident or are ill.

The thais usually leave them on until they break and prefer not to cut them off with scissors...if needing to remove they simply break them.
