No Non Immigrant Visa Appointments For 2 Yrs.

Featured Replies

I am a US citizen looking for a NIV for my Thai Wife and daughter. I got to the appointment calendar, After having to spend $12 for a pin, to find out that there are no available appointments for at least 2 yrs. This seems incredible to me, and I have had no luck getting any additional information through e-mails to the embassy there seems no way to get access beyond form letters or answers that say go to the website, we cannot answer individual questions. I am thinking of trying Malaysia, they seem to have lots of open appointment times. Has anyone, any information or help on this subject.

Moved to visa for other countries section.

Have you called the Visa Call Center at 001-800-13-202-2457? According to the State Dept website the wait time in Bangkok is 25 times which fits with our experience with getting visas for our people.

What e-mail did you use to contact the consulate? In my experience with them it can take several days to get back with an answer, but if it is a reasonable question they always respond.

Don't think your wife can apply in Malaysia unless she has a residence visa.

I have not used the call center, the site that handles the visa appointments indicated that live calls would cost $20 in addition to the $12 that I had to pay for the Pin # to even get to see the appointment calendar.

Does this fit with your experience?

What is 25 times?

According to the embassy in Malaysia, she can apply there as a Thai citizen, but they do not recommend it. I may have to do that if I can not get the visas any other way.

The site I used was the one indicated on the US embassy website, forget the name now.

I revisited the site, and it appears they have added some appointments for Aug. The ones I checked were all for 8:00 am or 8:30, must have got someone to wake up early, any way I got a scheduled appointment in Aug. Thanks for your input, and help
