Thai Immigration And Onward Ticket Requirements...?

Recommended Posts

One of my sisters is traveling this way in October. She will be making BKK as her embarkation point and plans to do a little over-land travelling for a couple months. Simple 60-day tourist visa. Does Thai immigration require {or demand} proof of an onward travel ticket or MCO voucher? Is this policy/non-policy left up to the respective airline? Is there a onward ticket requirement with a tourist visa? Thank in advance. :)

Thailand allows one way travel on any visa entry. As long as she has a tourist visa in her passport there should not be any issue with airline.

Just out of curiosity, what about an entry visa stamp {not a tourist visa}??

You mean a visa exempt entry. Than you would need proof of onward travel in the form of an airline ticket, othewise you would risk that the airline won't take you. It is doubtfull that a voucher would be enough, as that is not a confirmed ticket.

Miscellaneous Charge Order (MCO) Airline Travel Vouchers.........

Thanks. Something else I have learned today.

Yeah. Can be purchased from any airline or certified travel agent. Basically, it's an open ticket, whereas one can fill in the destination and carrier to the value of the respective MCO.
