Potter
Hey, Anybody knows about this. Bringing a new Harley Night Train from the USA to Thailand. 1) Any possibilities to get VAT refund or similar for non US citizens? 2) What taxes and how much will need to be paid when getting bike into Thailand for eternity. Thanks Potter
xbusman
You might try the search function, I think this has been discussed. As a member since October 2004 I would think you might have seen something on motorcycle import before....
noahvail
Agree with you, xbusman, but just to have some fun: You can get away without paying states sales tax in the US by having a shipping company take it out of the showroom. Of course, it's not registered, and not easy to explain once you get it here. Taxes - buy one for yourself, buy one for the Thai government. Plus green book fees. Plus tea money. Delivery - plan on waiting up to a year; regulations change, interpretations change, tea money amounts change. Fastest I heard was a guy with an 1800 Honda who only had to wait three months - and he was thrilled. Oh - and don't forget all the paperwork you have to do for the Thai government before you put it on the plane/boat. Now go do a search and get the real info. I may have taken just a wee bit of poetic license

Thanks Potter In Thailand Custom. US MSRP + transport and insurance cost invoice. Ad 287% tax to this. Emission test. Only California emission passes. 29.000 baht each test, most fail at least once Now you can apply for registration I think you would find the bike less expensive at main HD dealer here, cause their import is calculated on invoice not MSRP. US VAT deduction you have to do in the US, but should be simple to avoid VAT by purchasing in another state than you live, or VAT free state like Delaware. Thanks Potter Save yourself a lot of grief and stop by Power Station in BKK and ask them about special ordering a bike with everything you want on it. At least you'll get the bike.
