I know this question has most likely been asked and covered before but I need to make monthly wire transfers in the range of 100,000 Baht to the U.S. to pay for my stateside mortgage.

My situation particulars are that I have a business in Thailand but have yet to aquire a work permit. My bank is Bangkok Bank. I've heard that sending money out of Thailand is discouraged and has limitations placed on the practice through Thai legislation.

Does anyone know the facts? And if it is a problem for me then are there alternative methods? I've read also that transfering money using an international credit card is not an issue, though I don't know the specifics of how that would work.

Any other methods?

I've wired over 150,000 baht to Sweden without any problems. Used the Siam Commercial Bank where I've got an account. All I had to do was to specify the reason of the wire transfer on the bank slip (I stated it was for family reason).

I've done this a few times and I've never had any problems at all.

That's encouraging. Although Bangkok Bank may not have a similar policy. Does anyone have experience with Bangkok Bank?

I guess the worst case scenario would be that I open an account at Siam Commercial. Do they require a work permit to open an account?
