I have even seen them in the hairdresser/maicure shops 'inside' a 4 star hotel. They will give you a "massage" and offer to come to the room anytime you want, for whatever you want. There will ALWAYS BE men who want easy, cheap, sex with young, pretty women. ALWAYS. So, the Thai government allow sex bars, sex massage shops and legal prostitution... and they do so to 'encourage' more men in the 'always' bracket, to come to spend dollars or whatever currency in Thailand. In a "Perfect World" it is a shared responsibility. Unfortunately, or fortunately, we do not live, nor will we ever live, in a perfect world. If the Thai government made prostitution completely illegal, there would be less tourists and that is a certainty. But the tourists they do get would be a better class of people. It would take time and plenty of good advertising, but eventually the better class tourists and money would come... for the diving, the game fishing, the beautiful beaches, the sunshine, the SMILES, the wonderful people, the food, the history, the the the the...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whatever happened to that website you were setting up ? Richie was killed because he was talking to a friend - and the friend had been involved with a jealous Thai who would not listen to any patient, polite explanation that people could be friends. He is / was one of the sweetest guys around - absolutely inoffensive.
