exalll
I've Googled "sports medicine" and "Bangkok" with no useful results (except for a golfer health clinic!). Although a keen runner, I have a chronic ankle problem for which I would like to see a trustworthy specialist, as I suspect I am going to need a bespoke ankle brace. Any recommendations or suggestions welcome.

dsmandell
hi therego to the bumrugard website, Dr Bavornrit chuckpaiwong. I've made an appointment to see him re my feet, he has a background in sports medicine, check out his CV on the site DM Has anyone been treated by Dr. Chuckpaiwong yet? I am in great need of a foot and ankle specialist due to a serious rock climbing accident. I shattered my heel and ruptured the Achilles tendon. I am now laid up in Chiang Mai, where a highly recommended orthopedic surgeon at Chiang Mai Ram has confessed to me that he's never seen, let alone operated on a case like mine. When I asked what chance I'll have of running and playing sports like before, he said, "I'll just be happy to see you walk again." I really think I need a good foot and ankle specialist, and Dr. Chuckpaiwong seems like he may be most qualified. Since I need to travel from Chiang Mai, and the insurance company does not feel it's medically necessary, I have been trying to contact the good doctor and get things set up as much as possible in advance. If anybody has direct contact information, please PM me. I have already tried calling and emailing both Bumrungrad and Siriraj, but they won't see him until Saturday and Monday, respectively. I'm laid up and in pain, so I would like to get on the road to recovery asap! Any information, or recommendations of other foot and ankle specialists, preferably with a sports medicine background, would be most welcome! cheers, Daniel

I cannot imagine it's too hard to get an appointment. I sent an email describing my case and asked if the doctor would be available. They called and informed that they have scheduled me for a 3pm appointment tomorrow, with surgery at 8pm. And this is just from an email! The doctor hasn't seen me or my x-rays or MRI. Unfortunately, I have an infection at my injury site (which I mentioned in the email, but they overlooked) and I need to complete a course of antibiotics before having surgery. But the doctor seems very willing and available to take patients! Another small hitch was the fact I am in Chiang Mai, and they wanted me in Bangkok the next day--good of them to at least make it an afternoon appointment! As to price, I am guessing it won't be cheap. Bumrungrad hospital gave me an estimate of 220-240k for my surgery, not including any medications or complications, and anticipating a 2-day hospital stay. Let me know what you think once you've seen him!
